Jim Biggerstaff, N0TKN, working OK
Missouri Emergency Packet Network (MEPN):
Jim Biggerstaff, N0TKN, working OK, drafted Andy, WN0I, and we checked it out recently.
Local Emergency Coordinator’s Report:
Rich Kreiser, N0JBF, reporting – Had the exercise last week and several of us tried to check in.
We could hear St. Louis, but they could not hear us. Jim Biggerstaff added a description of the
system and said that it appears that the unit pointed east at High Hill was receiving but apparently
not transmitting. It’s also possible that the receiver at Foristell could be out.
District Emergency Coordinator’s Report:
Joe Betros, KB0QHZ, reporting: We have a new State EC who is stressing getting reports in on
time.
VE Liaison’s Report:
Nancie McAnaugh, NM0C, reporting: We had one person pass General test before class last
Monday. There is supposed to be someone here tonight to take test but hasn’t shown up yet. The
General Class is winding down so we’ll be testing seven soon. I’ll send out a request for VEs.
CW Class:
Kent Trimble, K9ZTV, is out of town – no report.
Training Committee:
Mike Thayer, KM0S, not present.
Club Jackets / Shirts / Patches:
Still waiting.
Mid-MO Emergency Radio Service:
Rich Kreiser, N0JBF, reporting – nothing to report.
Field Day 2013:
Mike Dolson, N0ZH, reporting: Jerri Hammond will host the pre-event meeting. The site has
been approved. I would like to have somebody provide a rig, preferably a simple one for the
GOTA station. Rich Krieser has an FT890 available. Have not been able to contact Mark
Eberle, KI0Y regarding the use of his rig, so we may have to find another one to use for
sideband. I have sent an e-mail regarding the use of the Fire Department van but have not heard
back yet. Last year we decided that the DPS van would house the CW station. Don Atkinson’s,
N0BIV, trailer is available as a GOTA station – discussion that Don’s trailer would be very tight
for that usage as it is quite small. I still have my van in case one of the others is not available.
The remaining questions/discussion tabled until next meeting due to low attendance. Steve Hick,
KD0GRV, mentioned that Tim Raymer, KA0OUV, has part of the 6 meter antenna element for
repair. Corey Chaney, KF0U, will contact him regarding status.
SOTA:
Bill Gerth, W4RK, not present
New Business:
None presented
Announcements:
Rich Kreiser, N0JBF, read a letter of thanks from the USS Missouri group for our $150.00 donation
toward their antenna repair fund.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:29 p.m. and followed by a presentation by Jim Biggerstaff, N0TKN, about the
USS Missouri and its radio equipment.
