Amateur radio is about service. MMARC is dedicated to serving Jefferson City and Cole County through emergency communications, public events, and community education.
Public Event Communications
Planning a marathon, 5K, bike rally, or community parade? Coordinating logistics over a wide area or difficult terrain can be challenging.
How We Can Help:
- Reliable Coverage: We provide robust, reliable communications support using our network of repeaters, portable radios, and mobile stations.
- End-to-End Coordination: Our volunteer operators ensure that race organizers, rest stops, and emergency medical personnel stay connected from start to finish.
Emergency Communications
When conventional systems fail due to severe weather or civil emergencies, MMARC members are dedicated to providing reliable communication links.
🌪️ Skywarn
SKYWARN® is a volunteer program established by the National Weather Service.
- The Mission: Our members act as trained severe weather spotters, observing and reporting critical conditions locally.
- The Impact: During severe storms, MMARC operators activate our local nets to relay real-time weather information directly to the NWS, helping them issue accurate, timely warnings that save lives.
🚑 Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES)
The Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment for communications duty in the public service.
- The Mission: We work closely with the Cole County Emergency Management Agency, local hospitals, and first responders to provide backup communications during crises.
